I emptied the Mafioso in one go today. I don't really know how to describe the scent. From the first impression to the lather, the scent couldn't convince me. It reminds me of old, dry bread stored in a wooden chest. I didn't hear any of the lavender, the warm vanilla was very subtle in the background. Spices cover the smell. There was no real joy while shaving. The foam quality is good, my Zenith bristles were able to produce a nice, creamy yogurt with very good gliding properties. Post shave is good, skin is not overly cared for. All in all, a solid soap. The Miami Nights will be more enjoyable because the scent is very similar to the Eros EdP.
@Nargothrond , Thank you for the detailed review. I have several comments related to your post.

First, I always appreciate honest feedback, both positive and negative. I want to be the best. I can't be the best if I get defensive when users share honestly.

This fragrance is inspired by Jean Paul Gaultier's Le Male Le Parfum. This one did well for us, although you are the second person on this forum I know of that doesn't like it. I'll be interested to see what others think.

I don't want people to buy our soap, just to dislike the fragrance. I know how much it has bothers me to spend hard-earned money on something I don't like.

So, I look forward to learning what folks on this forum like. We do a lot of 'inspired by' fragrances. Here is some recent and upcoming fragrances. It would be great to get feedback on these fragrances from anyone who is familiar with the originals. (The original rather than 'inspired by' from other companies.) Our 'inspired by' fragrances will always be very close to the original.

Alone - Side Effect by Inition
Cosmic Gentleman - Carlisle by Parfums de Marly
Miami Nights - Eros Flame
12 Shaves - Danger by Roja
Italian Plum - Not an 'inspired by', just a great plum fragrance
Watermelon - Not 'inspired by' smells like Watermelon candy.
Algorithm - The original Armani Code
Gunslinger - Red Tobacco by Mancera
Year of the Tiger - Black Afghano
Ladies' Man - Not 'inspired by', although similar to Polo Blue.
Pai Mei - African Leather by Memo Paris

@Hendrix Classics & Co. : Have you considered to sell other products via Anticatura in Europe?
I would be interested to try your stainless steel shaving bowl and would prefer to buy it via a European vendor.
Yes, I planned on sending a couple with the order he and I began work on yesterday. If you'll commit to purchase it, you can pick which bowl you would like and I'll include it. We have unfinished and several different colors, as well as first quality and second quality. Here's a link where you can check them out.

That sounds great.
I am interested in an unpolished straight wall (1st) shaving bowl.

How would the process for ordering it look like?

Today it was the turn of Miami Nights - in short, nice soap, good scent. If I didn't have so much soap to use, I would order it:thumbs up
I initially added 2.09g to 10g of water and realized that even more water was possible - I estimate that I added a total of 18g of water. The foam was super fluffy and very pleasant on the skin. Although I suspected something bad about the scent development, which was much stronger than expected (my skin just doesn't like a lot of gourmand scent, so I always have to shave quickly so that I don't get long-lasting redness), I was taught :ROFLbetter I was able to leave the whipped foam on my face for several minutes without feeling any reaction. It also felt great when applied. The only thing I think needs improvement is the consistency of the foam - I personally just find more creaminess in the foam better.
The skin felt good afterwards too, not too much of a good thing (in terms of moisturizing) but it wasn't dry either.
All in all a nice shaving soap.
Thank you for sharing! You have noticed two aspects which are unique to our soap as far as I know. Half the amount of our soap will generate 3 times the lather of other soaps. The reason for this is that we include a fatty acid (myristic acid) in our formula. It makes the soap incredibly fast and easy to lather and takes less soap than others. The other impact is that the lather doesn't develop the dense, creamy that a lot of people like.

Some people believe that the more dense creamy lather provides better cushion, though our testing has shown that this isn't the case. It would be fairly easy to alter the forumula to be more creamy. I want to get more feedback from European customers before doing this. For the US market, I've come to the conclusion that while some people like the more dense, creamy lather, there aren't enough to justify changing it as most really like it.

I'm totally willing to make changes for the European market if needed.

It is such pleasure to have the aritsan directly give feedback :)
In my opinion, the formula is awesome the way it is. I would not consider adapting the formula, based on my subjective opinion, as these differences in the formulas between the artisans is what makes the landscape of shaving soap so much fun for us enthusiasts.

EDIT: The translation of my words "Das einzige was ich verbesserungswürdig finde, ist die Konsistenz des Schaums" is not really accurate.
A better translation would be "If I would be asked to change one thing, to make it "j0mbers most liked soap", I'd go for foam consistency, as I like it more creamy - but that is just subjective and I'm already very pleased with the way the soap acts already."

The last part of my Miami Nights sample is now gone.
I used a little less water this time, added in smaller increments, took my time in the bowl and thus achieved the optimum lather for me - I would say 1 part soap to approx. 7 parts water. A little less than last time. I didn't achieve this level of creaminess last time - I may have simply over-watered the soap.

This time I lathered up with a 26mm 2-band badger & realized once again that the diameter of the brush can have a big impact on how the soap performs. Keyword: water retention in the hair. For the next HC&C sample, I will always work with the same synthetic/badger brush to really create the optimum lather with the given amount of soap.
All in all, I am very happy with the soap and am really looking forward to the next samples :) (this translation was created with the help of deepl)

Hello Pete @Hendrix Classics & Co.
I would like to remind myself if you would like to release the two soap jars for distribution. A nice number of interested parties have registered in the forum list.
Please write to me briefly whether I should cancel the distribution or whether I can hope for a shipment from Anel.
Greetings

Hallo Pete,

Gentleman, my apologies for the slow follow-through on sending the tubs for pass around. I will always honor commitments. I'm not particularly organized and really need more help which I can't afford right now. I always appreciate reminders if I promise something and don't come through in a timely manner. This is an area where I strive for improvement. I've emailed Anel asking him to send the soaps to @Bavaria Blade. Our new soap, Cowboy Up, will be delivered to Anel (Anticatura) in the next couple of days. I asked him to include a tub of that for the pass around as well.

NEW RELEASE
Cowboy Up soap and splash will be arriving at Anticatura soon. The shipment is currently in Slovenian customs. The fragrance for Cowboy Up is a homage to Tom Ford Ombré Leather.

“Very close if not exactly like the original (Ombrè Leather). Nice, very nice. “It smells good.” – Kensurfs

“This scent is just amazing. We are getting to the time of year to rock this scent. It smells so good. I recommend that you pick it up. It's really close to the actual EDP.” - Marion the Barbarian
_________________________________________________________

This launch speaks to the Essence of the American Frontier. Embark on a journey through the untamed heart of America. This launch, the scent a homage to Ombrè Leather, captures the spirit of the open plains and the rugged individualism of the cowboy.

It speaks of leather and the unbridled freedom of the wild. For the patriot whose heart beats in unison with the land of the free, this is more than a launch – it's a declaration of strength and pride. Be the legend.
